Guided tour, Talk

In Dialogue - Metal

With Elisabeth Schotte (jewellery designer) and Christiane Remm (collection curator, Karl und Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Stiftung)

Applied arts require practical knowledge: The curators have not only explored the theoretical aspects of the craft pieces in our collection but have also gained hands-on expertise in production processes and material properties. In doing so, they learned alongside practitioners and created initial samples themselves in each respective craft. This tour highlights both perspectives: that of artisans themselves and that of the museum. During the discussion, the experts will explore the unique properties of each material (metal, wood, or textile), as well as the possibilities and limitations of working with them. This is especially fascinating when it comes to the artistic creations of the Brücke artists.

Each event in this series sees a curator talk to someone practising the craft: featuring wood sculptor and restorer Valentin José Kammel, textile artist Lisa Reichmann, and jewellery designer Elisabeth Schotte.

Elisabeth Schotte is a jewellery designer whose work is inspired by objects and jewellery from Antiquity.

Christiane Remm is an art historian and since 2019 has been collection curator of the Karl und Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Stiftung at the Brücke-Museum in Berlin.

We are committed to respectful interaction. Discriminatory behavior has no place at our events.
