DESCRIPTION:With Elisabeth Schotte (jewellery designer) and Christiane Remm
(collection curator\, Karl und Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Stiftung) \n\nApplied
arts require practical knowledge: The curators have not only explored the
theoretical aspects of the craft pieces in our collection but have also g
ained hands-on expertise in production processes and material properties.
In doing so\, they learned alongside practitioners and created initial sam
ples themselves in each respective craft. This tour highlights both perspe
ctives: that of artisans themselves and that of the museum. During the dis
cussion\, the experts will explore the unique properties of each material
(metal\, wood\, or textile)\, as well as the possibilities and limitations
of working with them. This is especially fascinating when it comes to the
artistic creations of the Brücke artists.\n\nEach event in this series se
es a curator talk to someone practising the craft: featuring wood sculptor
and restorer Valentin José Kammel\, textile artist Lisa Reichmann\, and j
ewellery designer Elisabeth Schotte.\n\nElisabeth Schotte is a jewellery d
esigner whose work is inspired by objects and jewellery from Antiquity.\n
\nChristiane Remm is an art historian and since 2019 has been collection c
urator of the Karl und Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Stiftung at the Brücke-Museum
in Berlin.\n\nWe are committed to respectful interaction. Discriminatory b
ehavior has no place at our events.
