Use of images protected by copyright

There are two main legal norms for images of works: copyright and image rights. In the case of Brücke-Museum, the originators of works of art and thus the copyright holders are the artists of the Brücke group. When a work is reproduced photographically, image rights arise that are with the photographer.

Works by artists who have been dead for less than 70 years cannot be used freely. We have researched and clarified the rights of these works so as to be able to include them in our Collection Online. In some instances, the creators transfer assertion of their rights to the VG Bild-Kunst in Bonn (as with Erich Heckel and Max Kaus); the latter must therefore be contacted for consent to use the image. Such use is subject to a charge. Information on the copyright holders is always provided directly beneath the illustrations.

These illustrations may only be used after a request to do so has been made to the Brücke-Museum and permission granted. Send your inquiry to Brücke-Museum. This reproduction permission only applies for the photo made available. Please also note that must make a separate request to the copyright holder for the copyright.
