The Forest The Sky

A textile collaboration between the art group of the LebensWerkGemeinschaft and artists Mascha Fehse and Karen Michelsen Castañón
Over the course of several months, we worked together to dye, sew, embroider, and print, gathering stories and traces from the surrounding forest between the Museum and the LebensWerkGemeinschaft. Along the way, we encountered many trees, a few animals, beer coasters, bark, dogs, and other forest creatures.
Through a process of layering and superimposition, the stories unfold on a collaborative curtain made of cotton burlap: time, threads, drawings and printed colours are layered upon one another and merge to form a single fabric. Thus, a form of applied art unfolds that, as a curtain for the forest room, makes both our shared time and the collected stories visible.
Come and celebrate with us this curtain, grown from the stories we gathered, now finding its place in the Forest Room.
This collaborative work was created as part of the long-standing collaboration between the Brücke Museum Berlin and the LebensWerkGemeinschaft
