Artist Talk with atelier le balto

With atelier le balto (landscpae architects), moderated by Luna Weis (assistant curator, Brücke-Museum)

Since 2021, atelier le balto has been designing the outdoor spaces at the Brücke-Museum. For the exhibition Art… Beneath Pine Trees, the practice developed an artistic nature trail on the woodland site. For Nature… In the Museum, atelier le balto is bringing its perspective on landscape into the museum’s interior. In conversation with Assistant Curator Luna Weis, the landscape architects discuss their work at the Brücke-Museum and how the garden, the museum collection and the current exhibitions interact.

atelier le balto has stood for the Berlin-based landscape architects since 2001: Marc Pouzol (founder), Véronique Faucheur, Nil Lachkareff and Lilith Unverzagt, as well as Marc Vatinel, from Le Havre. They have designed and realised numerous gardens for art galleries and cultural venues including the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, the Brücke-Museum, the Berlinische Galerie and, most recently, the Kulturforum in Berlin. The development of plants and the movement of people are the main components of their realisations. atelier le balto creates places of encounter and exchange.

The work of atelier le balto is characterised by an ecologically sustainable and artistic approach. The landscape architects create aesthetic places of encounter and exchange in nature. The studio has designed numerous gardens for art institutions and cultural venues, including the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin. atelier le balto also designs public gardens and parks.
