On-Site Event: Invitation to the Simon Estate at the Schweizerhaus Seelow

With Marion Krüger (Hugo Simon Stiftung) and Uwe Trzewik (Heimatverein Schweizerhaus Seelow e. V.)

Berlin art collector Hugo Simon (1880–1950) is presented and honoured in the current exhibition as an important patron and collector, not only of Brücke artworks. Along with his residence in Berlin, from 1919 onwards, he owned an estate with extensive parks and farmland in Seelow, Brandenburg.

Marion Krüger from the Hugo Simon Stiftung and Uwe Trzewik from the Heimatverein Schweizerhaus Seelow e. V. invite you to Seelow to visit the former estate and the exhibition Hugo Simon – Vom roten Bankier zum grünen Exilanten (Hugo Simon: From Red Banker to Green Exile). Here, you can enjoy an afternoon coffee while getting to know art lover Hugo Simon’s place of refuge and inspiration.

The Hugo Simon Stiftung is dedicated to commemorating the life and work of Hugo Simon and seeks to further the ideals he advocated. The foundation’s mission is to foster art and culture, knowledge and education, cultural heritage, sustainable agriculture and nature conservation through international cooperation. Its main task is to preserve and further develop the Schweizerhaus and its surrounding estate in Seelow. In the spirit of Hugo Simon, who once brought together landscape, agriculture, and art in Seelow and believed in community solidarity, the foundation aims to connect (family) histories, national cultural heritage and local concerns.

Location and Directions: Please note that this event does not take place at the Brücke-Museum, but rather on-site at the Schweizerhaus Seelow (address: Hugo Simon Stiftung, Am Schweizerhaus 1-5, 15306 Seelow, Brandenburg). Visitors need to arrange their own transportation.
