DESCRIPTION:With Karen Michelsen Castañón (artist and art mediator) and Sus
ana Vásquez Torres (artist and art mediator)\n\nPatterns are everywhere: i
n nature\, on our clothes\, and in art. They can tell different stories an
d carry different meanings. In this open workshop\, we will explore shapes
from nature and everyday life\, combining them in new ways to create our
own patterns. Using sketches\, collages\, and stencil fabric printing\, we
will turn our designs into patches for your clothes. Bring a T-shirt or a
nother item of clothing to personalise! About the Co-Crafting Club: Each e
xhibition introduces a new craft technique linked to its themes. Together\
, we experiment with materials\, share ideas\, and discover new creative p
rocesses.\n\nThis format is part of the FREI RAUM KUNST youth programme\,
which embraces multilingualism\, provides support\, and encourages exchang
e between young people from all backgrounds. No prior knowledge is necessa
ry. Although the workshop will be mainly in German\, we mention the langua
ges spoken by the facilitators to make it more accessible. If you don’t fe
el confident in German\, don’t worry — you can still take part.\n\nKaren M
 ichelsen Castañón (born in Lima\, Perú) is a visual artist\, filmmaker\, a
nd freelance researcher. Her work deals with the way (colonial) stories ar
e told and includes short films\, photographs\, and textiles. She question
s how both hegemonic and invisible stories are restaged in our everyday li
ves and how this relates to current social events.\n\nSusana Vásquez Torre
s (born in Lima\, Perú) is an interdisciplinary feminist artist who works
in the fields of performance\, screen printing\, book art\, and documentar
y animation. Her work addresses issues such as violence\, femicide\, menst
ruation\, migration\, and grief through the lens of intersectional feminis
m and community art. Through projects such as “Omas Projekt\,” “Bleeding S
tories\,” and “The Wounded Hours\,” she creates spaces for empowerment and
new narratives that challenge patriarchal and colonial patterns.\n\nWe ar
e committed to respectful interaction. Discriminatory behavior has no plac
 e at our events.
