DESCRIPTION:Two experts exchange their views on the central themes of the e
xhibition Swedish Modernism and connect them to current questions about ar
t\, research and society. With Simon Schultz (cultural studies scholar a
nd artist) and Thesea Rigou (art mediator and artist).\n\nHow much freedom
do we have in how we present ourselves? The Swedish artist Nils Dardel wa
s renowned for his extravagant lifestyle\, experimenting with his image in
both his art and everyday life. Taking Dardel as a starting point\, this
guided tour will explore how appearance and self-presentation can be forms
of artistic expression\, challenging social expectations around identity
and gender in the process.\n\nSimon Schultz is an artist and cultural stud
ies scholar whose work explores representations of gender\, activism and p
opular culture. Most recently\, he developed a programme of drag tours for
the Hamburger Kunsthalle\, exploring the more extravagant aspects of the
exhibitions alongside drag kings and queens. He lives and works in Hamburg
.\n\nThesea Rigou Efstathopoulos (born in Cyprus) has been a freelance art
mediator at the Brücke-Museum Berlin for over three years. Their artistic
practice spans printmaking\, ceramics\, drawing\, installation and partic
ipatory activities\, often as part of the artist duo Helena &amp\; The Sea
. Focusing on material cycles and socio-ecological kinship. Thesea approac
hes art mediation as an embodied\, relational process that involves workin
g with the body as much as with words.\n\nWe are committed to respectful i
nteraction. Discriminatory behavior has no place at our events.
