With Karen Michelse n Castañón and Gudrun Ingratubun (visual artists)\n\nWhat stories do works of art and plants tell? First\, we’ll look at the works in the museum and the garden\, in which nature plays a major role. Then we’ll explore the G runewald together\, observe the variety of shapes and textures\, collect l eaves\, sketch\, listen to the sounds of the trees and birds and learn abo ut the ever-changing stories of this forest. Which painting\, which sculpt ure\, which plant appeals to you most? Using leaves from the plants in the Grunewald\, you’ll create your own individual and collaborative eco-print s: you’ll press the plant leaves onto special paper using rust water and h ot steam. This process imprints the fine details of the leaves and needles onto the paper. You’ll then work on your own ideas on paper using linocut printing.\n\nNo prior knowledge is necessary. Please bring suitable work clothes. Although the workshop will be mainly in German\, we mention the l anguages spoken by the facilitators to make it more accessible. If you don ’t feel confident in German\, don’t worry — you can still take part.\n\nKa ren Michelsen Castañón (born in Lima\, Peru) is a visual artist\, filmmake r and freelance researcher. Her work deals with the way (colonial) histori es are told and includes short films\, photographs and textiles. She quest ions how hegemonic and invisible stories are re-staged in our daily lives and how this relates to current social events.\n\nGudrun Ingratubun (born 1969) studied agriculture and English and lived in Indonesia for a long ti me. Since returning to Berlin\, she has been translating Indonesian litera ture into German. As an artist\, she deals with social spaces\, colonial s tructures\, the climate crisis and collective mourning. Her botanical prin ts (Ecoprints) on paper and fabric\, mixed media works and planted upcycli ng installations at documenta fifteen in Kassel and in Berlin-Charlottenbu rg invite dialogue and collective action at ear level. Her most recent wor ks deal with the colonial histories of trees of the gods\, indigo\, za’ata r\, pines and olive trees.\n\nWe are committed to respectful interaction.
