DESCRIPTION:With Edwin Ben (fashion designer\, Kweli e.V.)\n\nIn this works
hop\, small and big hands come together to give old fabrics a new form. Pa
rticipants will create and sew with recycled textiles. Seams are opened\,
fabrics altered\, and pieces reassembled\, giving rise to entirely new cre
ations. Thus\, it becomes abundantly clear that every garment holds more t
han what meets the eye. Perhaps there’s a piece of clothing in your wardro
be waiting for a new idea. Feel free to bring it along! Additional materia
ls will also be provided for mixing and combining.\n\nAlthough the worksho
p will be mainly in German\, we mention the languages spoken by the facili
tators to make it more accessible. If you don’t feel confident in German\,
don’t worry — you can still take part. We are committed to respectful int
eraction. Discriminatory behavior has no place at our events.\n\nFrom the
heart of Tanzania to the runways of the modern fashion world: Edwin Ben is
a designer whose journey is as multifaceted as his creations. Even as a c
hild in Tanzania he was fascinated by fabrics\, colours and cuts\, and fas
hion always remained his inner compass\, even though he initially took a f
ew professional detours. Under his own name\, he combines streetwear with
elegant evening wear. Spurred on by the dark side of the global fashion in
dustry\, he has made it his mission to make a valuable contribution to the
environment: for him\, upcycling is not a trend\, but a genuine labour of
love. He wants to pass this message on to young people in particular\, wh
 o are our future.\n\nKweli e.V. is a non-profit organisation dedicated to
empowering women\, children and young people through education\, health\,
art and culture\, and sustainable development.
