DESCRIPTION:With Lisa Reichmann (artist\, embroidery workshop at Burg Giebi
chenstein University of Art and Design Halle) and Anika Reineke (curator o
f the textile and applied arts collection\, Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz)\n\nA
pplied arts require practical knowledge: The curators have not only explor
ed the theoretical aspects of the craft pieces in our collection but have
also gained hands-on expertise in production processes and material proper
ties. In doing so\, they learned alongside practitioners and created initi
al samples themselves in each respective craft. This tour highlights both
perspectives: that of artisans themselves and that of the museum. During t
he discussion\, the experts will explore the distinctive qualities of each
material (metal\, wood\, or textile)\, as well as the possibilities and l
imitations of working with them. This is especially fascinating when it co
mes to the artistic creations of the Brücke artists.\n\nEach event in this
series sees a curator talk to someone practising the craft: featuring woo
d sculptor and restorer Valentin José Kammel\, textile artist Lisa Reichma
nn\, and jewellery designer Elisabeth Schotte.\n\nThe embroidery workshop
Rebellious Stitches will take place afterwards. Registration is required f
or the workshop.\n\nLisa Reichmann is an art graduate who practises hand e
mbroidery as her preferred medium. She works in the embroidery workshop at
Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.\n\nAnika Reineke
is curator of the textile and applied arts collection at the Kunstsammlung
en Chemnitz.\n\nWe are committed to respectful interaction. Discriminatory
behavior has no place at our events.
