DESCRIPTION:With Meeting Lines (artistic collective / Marcos García Pérez a
nd Carla Schliephack)\n\nHow do we make contact when we draw each other? A
nd: How does it feel to be drawn yourself? For three hours\, everything re
volves around experimental drawing\, looking closely and creating respectf
ully.\n\nIn the exhibition\, we look together at the paintings of the arti
st Irma Stern\, who painted people in South Africa over 100 years ago - wi
th many colours and strong feelings. Some portraits have a name\; others r
emain unknown as a person. We can ask questions such as: How are people po
rtrayed? Who is drawing whom and from what perspective? In addition\, what
is the connection between the painter and the people in the picture?\n\nI
n the workshop\, we experiment with pen and paper. Drawing games provide s
pace to get to know each other and draw portraits with curiosity\, emotion
and an open eye for each other. No previous knowledge is necessary - the
focus is on togetherness\, exploration and creative experimentation. Altho
ugh the workshop will mainly be held in German\, we will indicate the lang
uages of the workshop leaders (German\, English and Spanish) to make it mo
re accessible. If you do not feel confident with the German language\, do
not worry. You can still participate.\n\nWe value respectful interaction w
ith each other. Discriminatory behaviour is not welcome at our events.\n\n
Marcos García Pérez and Carla Schliephack make up the Berlin-based art duo
Meeting Lines. Together\, they investigate critical collective processes
at the intersection of human/environment and self-education/art. To this e
nd\, they develop site-specific drawing practices that involve copying\, i
mprovising and playing. The reuse of materials is central to their arts ed
ucation work as well as their artistic practice.\n\nMarcos García Pérez st
udied fine arts at the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia and graduated f
rom the UdK Berlin (Berlin University of the Arts) in 2020 in the Art in C
ontext programme. Since then\, he has worked as an independent artist and
art educator.\n\nAfter earning a B.A. in fashion design\, Carla Schliephac
k was a master student in the Sculpture Department at the weißensee academ
y of art berlin\, a programme she continues to promote. Through further tr
aining as a systemic coach\, she now works as an art educator and freelanc
 e artist in Berlin.
