DESCRIPTION:The exhibition Biographies of Modern Art. Collectors and Their
Works presents eight Jewish collectors who supported the Brücke artists du
ring their time. The names of Rosy Fischer\, Max Osborn\, Elsa Glaser\, Ha
ns and Walther Heymann\, Rosa Schapire\, Hugo Simon and Victor Wallerstein
have been almost completely forgotten today. The exhibition aims to comme
morate them and pay tribute to their contribution to modern art. Their bio
graphies\, work and networks are brought to life in the exhibition through
the collectors' former works of art\, historical documents and photos as
well as interviews with experts and descendants. A new mural by artist Sop
hie von Hellermann provides a contemporary approach. Co-curator Ruth Ur in
vites you to take a tour of the exhibition and provides insights into her
curatorial approach.\n\nRuth Ur is the founder of urKultur GmbH and has be
en initiating and leading exemplary cultural projects internationally for
more than twenty-five years. From 1998 until 2017\, she held leading posit
ions with the British Council in Great Britain\, Germany\, Israel\, Turkey
and India. Ur has curated numerous site-specific installations\, exhibiti
ons\, and campaigns and is often invited to hold presentations and lecture
s about her work. She lives in Berlin\, and in addition to the urKultur Gm
bH\, she also directs the Freundeskreis Yad Vashem e.V.
