DESCRIPTION:With Yili Rojas (artist).\n\nThe conscious choice to use wood b
ecause it’s a natural material was a minor revolution at the start of the
20th century. What earlier generations of artists had cut to size\, polish
ed\, or painted over was what most appealed to the Brücke artists: the gra
in\, the cracks\, the fissures\, the unevenness\, even an irregular natura
l shape. All the randomness of nature was now incorporated into the design
. It became their artistic programme.\n\nTogether with visual artist Yili
Rojas\, you can try out the woodblock technique for yourself and develop y
our own ideas and messages. Yili Rojas was born in Bogotá (Colombia) and h
as been working as an artist and educational consultant in political educa
tion in Berlin since 2010. Her focus in political education is on (post-)c
olonialism\, anti-discrimination\, anti-racism\, and the empowerment of mi
grants and BIPoCs. As an artist\, she works with drawing\, printmaking\, p
 erformance\, installation\, and poetic texts.
