The site-specific work unifies the life stories and personalities of the eight collectors presented and honoured in the exhibition. Artist S ophie von Hellermann and curator Ruth Ur present the contemporary wall pai nting in conversation and contextualise it in the exhibition Biographies o f Modern Art: Collectors and Their Artworks.\n\nSophie von Hellermann’s pa intings recall memories of fables and legends\, taking up historical and m ythological motifs. The diverse colours and broad\, curving brushstrokes i mbue the works with a sense of weightlessness. Sophie von Hellermann (b. 1 975 in Munich) lives and works in Karlsruhe and London. Since 2022\, she h as been a professor of painting at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden K ünste in Karlsruhe.\n\nRuth Ur is the founder of urKultur GmbH and has bee n initiating and leading exemplary cultural projects internationally for m ore than twenty-five years. From 1998 until 2017\, she held leading positi ons with the British Council in Great Britain\, Germany\, Israel\, Turkey and India. Ur has curated numerous site-specific installations\, exhibitio ns\, and campaigns and is often invited to hold presentations and lectures about her work. She lives in Berlin\, and in addition to the urKultur Gmb H\, she also directs the Freundeskreis Yad Vashem e.V.
