DESCRIPTION:With Yili Rojas (artist)\n\nThe choice of wood as a natural mat
erial was already a minor revolution at the beginning of the twentieth cen
tury. It was precisely what earlier generations of artists had cut to size
\, polished\, or painted over that appealed to the Brücke artists: the gra
in\, the cracks\, the fissures\, the unevenness\, even the irregularly gro
wn shape. All the randomness of nature was now incorporated into the desig
 n. It became the artistic programme.\n\nTogether with the visual artist Yi
li Rojas\, you can try out the woodblock technique for yourself and develo
p your own ideas and messages. Yili Rojas was born in Bogotá (Colombia) an
d has been working as an artist and educational consultant in political ed
ucation in Berlin since 2010. Her focus in political education is on (post
 -)colonialism\, anti-discrimination\, anti-racism\, and the empowerment of
migrants and BIPoCs. As an artist\, she works with drawing\, printmaking\
 , performance\, installation\, and poetic texts.
