DESCRIPTION:ATTENTION\, Unfortunately\, the performance can not take place
on the 30 September and will be postponed. We will let you know once a new
date is fixed.\n\nOn the occassion of the current exhibition The Assault
of the Present on the Rest of Time. Artistic Testimonies of War and Repres
sion\, the Brücke Museum and the Schinkel Pavillon present a new performan
ce by Isaac Chong Wai\, created especially for the exhibition. Humming Bre
ath and Silent Words (Homage to Charlotte Salomon) refers to the work of C
harlotte Salomon: Leben? oder Theater? (Life? or Theater?). The extensive
759 sheet cycle of work was created in 1939 and includes a story in image
and writing – a precursor to the later graphic novel. Salomon's autobiogra
phical narrative bears witness to the tragic life of the Jewish artist – f
rom the First World War to her flight from Nazi Germany to shortly before
her deportation to Ausschwitz\, where she was murdered in 1945.\n\nPerform
ance Humming Breath and Silent Words (Homage to Charlotte Salomon) by Isaa
 c Chong Wai with performers Dagmar Aigner\, Zaki Hagins\, Saraï O’gara\, N
obutaka Shomura and Eliza Zaikinaite.\n\nLocation: Brücke-Museum\n\nThe co
nceptual artist Isaac Chong Wai (b. 1990) works in a variety of media\, in
cluding photography and film\, sculpture and performance. Raised in Hong K
ong\, Chong came to Weimar to study art in 2013 and moved to Berlin in 201
 5. Since then\, the strong visibility of history in both cities has shaped
his artistic practice. In particular\, fates associated with National Soc
ialism become a recurring theme\, through which he explores grief\, loss\,
and memory.\n\nAdditionally\, the performance takes place on 1 October 20
23\, at 3 pm at the Schinkel Pavillon.\n\nSupported by the Berliner Landes
 zentrale für politische Bildung.
