 an Sinti and Roma\, Heidelberg\n\nAndré Jenö Raatzsch\, born in Ilmenau in
  1978\, has participated in numerous international exhibitions in recent y
 ears\, including the first Rom*nja Pavilion 'Paradise Lost' at the Biennal
 e di Venezia in Venice (Italy) in 2007. \n\nSubsequently\, he implemented 
 several artistic and cultural projects\, including 'Rewritable Pictures'. 
 In this studio work\, participatory\, artistic methods are used to questio
 n\, expand and critically reflect on the pictorial representations of priv
 ate picture archives of the Sinti*zze and Rom*nja. Raatzsch joined a PhD p
 rogram at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest in 2015 on the tr
 ansdisciplinary research topic 'The Roma Image Studio'. The Roma Image Stu
 dio is an artistic-critical platform that combines the representation of E
 uropean Sinti*zze and Rom*nja with the re- and deconstruction of Rom*nja i
 dentity\, taking into account photography\, photo archives and the related
  photographic discourse. André Raatzsch is head of the Documentation Depar
 tment at the Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma in
  Heidelberg.
