(EN)\n\nWith Dr. Matthias Mühling (Städtische Galerie im Lenbachha us) and Lisa Marei Schmidt (Brücke-Museum)\nHost: Elena Schroll (Brücke-Mu seum)\n\nThis workshop aims to explore and reimagine curatorial practices within the realm of Expressionism. It will delve into fresh approaches to exhibitions and tackle the challenges faced by curators and audiences alik e. We will contemplate potential forms and explore innovative ways to pres ent Expressionist art\, and consider methods to foster broader public invo lvement in this dynamic artistic movement.\n\nDr. Matthias Mühling is an a rt historian and the director of the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus und Kunstbau in Munich. He studied art history\, theater\, film\, and televis ion studies\, as well as political science in Bochum. From 2005 to 2013\, he served as the head of the Collections/Exhibitions/Research department a nd the collection manager for post-1945 art at the Lenbachhaus. Prior to t hat\, he worked as a research assistant at the Hamburger Kunsthalle from 2 003 to 2005. As an author and curator\, he has realized numerous publicati ons and exhibitions on art\, and he represents various international commi ttees.\n\nLisa Marei Schmidt is an art historian\, curator\, and museum di rector. Since October 2017\, she has been leading the Brücke-Museum in Ber lin-Dahlem. Schmidt studied in Marburg\, Amsterdam\, Berlin\, and London. From 2009 to 2011\, she worked as a research trainee at the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen\, and from 2012 to 2017\, she was a curator at the Ham burger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart in Berlin. Her exhibition Vivian Sut er. Bonzo’s Dream at the Brücke-Museum\, in which Schmidt invited the arti st Vivian Suter to collaborate with the museum’s collection\, was awarded Special Exhibition 2020 by the international association of art critics\, AICA.\n\nElena Schroll is an art historian and independent curator. She pr eviously served as the Curator of the Collection at the Brücke-Museum. Her position was funded by the Ferdinand-Möller-Stiftung and facilitated rese arch\, preservation\, and conservation of the extensive collection of Expr essionist art at the museum. In addition to her work with the collection\, she was actively involved in curating exhibitions\, including Whose Expre ssion? The Brücke Artists and Colonialism. Prior to her tenure at the Brüc ke-Museum\, she worked as a research associate and curator at the Städel M useum in Frankfurt am Main\, where she co-curated and managed projects suc h as the exhibitions Lotte Laserstein: Face to Face and Making Van Gogh: A German Love Story.
