DESCRIPTION:In her work Pathways\, Nnenna Onuoha examines the colonial cont
ext behind street names in the neighbourhoods surrounding the Brücke-Muse
um in Dahlem. In doing so\, she draws on her own experience of mapping and
the practice of storytelling in her hometown of Accra\, Ghana. With her s
ound walk\, the artist intertwines historical extracts with current record
ings of these spaces\, shifting the political context of the exhibition to
  the streets.\n\nNnenna Onuoha is a Ghanaian-Nigerian researcher\, filmmak
er and artist based in Berlin. Her written and audiovisual works centre Af
rodiasporic voices to explore monumental silences surrounding the historie
s and afterlives of colonialism across West Africa\, Europe and the US\, a
sking: how do we remember\, which pasts do we choose to perform and why?
A second strand of her work focuses on archiving Black experience in the p
resent. Nnenna is currently a doctoral researcher in Media Anthropology at
Harvard University and Global History at the University of Potsdam.
