ors.\n\nThe Brücke artists lived and worked during a period when Imperial
Germany was one of the largest colonial powers in Europe. The exhibition W
hose Expression? The Brücke Artists and the Colonial Context examines thei
r works against this historical background.\nThe Brücke-Museum houses the
collection of the estate of Karl Schmidt-Rottluff. Part of it is a body of
works from more than one hundred cultural works from over 20 regions in t
he world – among them New Guinea\, Congo\, Mexico.The Transition Exhibitio
n at the neighbouring Kunsthaus Dahlem contextualises this part of Schmidt
-Rottluff’s collection from a contemporary\, critical perspective for the
first time.
